Penn vs Berkeley vs UCLA vs NYU

I was recently accepted to all of these schools and having a very tough time deciding. I wish to go to a school that will allow me to explore a wide range of subjects before deciding on a major. But when I do decide, I want it to be an amazing academic program.

In addition to this, I really want to do study abroad at some point as an undergrad. Which has the best programs?

Also, cost plays a large role in my decision. My family only makes around $70,000 a year, and there are four total children in the house. I am still awaiting on financial aid determination from Penn, but Berkeley and UCLA both average to around $35,000 a year. Is this too high? I don't have a clue what to do. I'm visiting Penn and NYU next week and the California schools late in April, hopefully that will help me decide.

Also, I am waiting on Vanderbilt admissions decisions- and it's looking pretty positive.

Any advice would help soooo much!

My take: much easier to schedule across disciplines at Penn, than at UCB or UCLA. The California schools are overcrowded, and underfunded (therefore, no fin-aid either). You’ll have trouble setting your schedule every term. But the grounds are beautiful at both schools, and the weather is always nice.

I’m facing a very similar choice, between Penn, Berkeley, and NYU as well as a couple other potential schools. I’m strongly leaning towards Penn, but it would be great to hear what other people have to say on the matter.

My leaning is toward Penn… I mean, I’m the only student from my school admitted to an Ivy in the past three years… and financial aid will be better. Thanks for the insight on cross discipline education!
