It is a really gorgeous campus. Still deciding over here (waiting on two schools to get back to my student), so congrats to your daughter! You must all be relieved to have that decided.
These campus tours made me want to go back to college… haha
That’s is a fact! College is a lot less “rough” than when we went. Starbucks, swimming pools, free t-shirts all the time, Panera Bread, Chick-fil-A, etc…But also, I paid $500 a semester in the late 80s, and now a semester at.the same state school is $6000…we parents are definitely paying for that cush life they’re getting!!!
Yes, we are extremely relieved!!
It’s so nice, during these unsettling times, to have at least one thing settled. Pepperdine shirts, for the entire family, and a pennant have been ordered, and dorm-shopping for at least one fun thing will commence this weekend.
Sigh! Very relieved.
Does anyone know what the notification date was for RD at Pepperdine last year?
I believe that Pepperdine like many schools were really hoping that they would be able to consider scores for their scholarships. Unfortunately every time the tests dates came up they were cancelled. I had one student that signed up for 9 SAT’s and studied for all of them, only to have every one cancelled. They could not consider the test scores without completely discounting every California student. I agree that the wording could have felt misleading, but at the time of early admissions they believed CA would still open for testing, unfortunately that did not happen.
Also I’m seeing lots of students in here getting lots of aid! Congratulations! I think what maybe some parents don’t understand is that it is EXTREMELY rare to get more merit aid than the cost of tuition. Pepperdine’s tuition is not 80,000 a year I believe it is currently 57,750. The rest of that is room, board and the additional living costs. I’m not saying Pepperdine is a bargain or anything but the cost of living in SOCal, particularly Malibu, is high. My off campus student is good with her money and we definitely save with her being in an apartment and buying groceries over the on campus costs. I just think when you apply to a higher priced school like Pepperdine you have to know that your merit aid is not going to cover the costs above tuition.
Last year it was March 17, in 2018 it was March 16. So right around Mid March if it stays consistent.
Do we have any estimated dates / guesses in which RD decisions are coming out?
I also applied for RD. I’m guessing either today or Friday this week.
@notopchoices , does Pepperdine generally announce it on social media in advance?
For EA, I did not see anything posted anywhere and received an email of my acceptance at around 1:30 EST
Pepperdine decisions are out. Just got the email!
did not get in but i really do not care so…
As people post please, I am begging you, post your stats. This helps kids for next year. WGPA, test scores/options, ECs, LORs, anything unique to your application. Even if you did not get it. Each year, students come here to see how good their chances are. If you don’t provide your stats, we are not doing what is best for the common good.
Hello! My son was accepted but for Spring 2022.
Anybody else had the same offer? Can he take classes from a community college for Fall and Winter 2020? We will be contacting Admissions and they will give me answers for sure, but I am interested in hearing what your plans are if you also got accepted for Spring 2022, or if you yourself have been admitted for Spring quarter in the past.
I got in for Spring 2022 after deferred EA! GPA 3.3 UW 3.6 W, UChicago RIBS, UCLA international summer program, UC Berkeley Summer high school program, Kaiser Permanente Internship, Full-time employee to support my dad during COVID-19, Swarthmore Fly-in program, surfing club, interviewed, no test scores submitted. Wrote my essay on the struggles of losing my mother after my family and I crossed the Mexico border and Immigration detained her for years before throwing her back to Mexico and finding my own guidance and support without a mother figure growing up, attested to my faith in god in the supplemental essay. Really thrilled, not in a billion years would I ever imagine getting into Pepperdine!
Oh my, you have a compelling essay and a life that is a true testament of grit and resilience! Happy for you that you got accepted. The best to you in the coming years!
Thank you so much! I was really scared at first about submitting that essay, since I also delved into how I found out that during these immigration lockups, many men raped my mother and that the immgration control wouldn’t do anything but laugh at her and I thought talking about me and my father being immgrants would’ve affected us rather than help me. But then it was through these adversities that a 9th grade teacher found out about everything since I resorted to drugs to deal with depression and I got caught and I did get into a lot of trouble, but then he told me to do this program at UCLA that delves into international topics to promote diversity amongst individuals and as a distraction from my anxiety. Through this program I really became inspired to help individuals that went through what my mom did, and just be more in-tune with my background and my future. I definitely appreciate every single adversity that I’ve been through, since in the end it has only made me a more reslient individual. I’m really thankful that I got admitted into Pepperdine, and I’m hoping I get approved of a VISA soon so that I can go see my mother for the first time in 15 years!
