Basically, I'm having trouble choosing between the expensive private school and the faceless public institution. I would love to go to a smaller school with less competition (student number-wise) and receive a bit more personal attention (as well as the alumni connections later on). However, according to statistics and reviews UCSD has better academics and is also a lot cheaper. Everyone seems to be saying that it's an easy choice (UCSD), but is it really that easy of a choice? Please help! I need as many thoughts, suggestions, opinions, etc. as I can get. Thanks(:

What's your religious background? Do you feel that you would fit in culturally at Pepperdine?

I am Christian and I am used to going to church on Sundays. From what I've heard I don't know if I would fit in as naturally as I would like, but I can adjust. I'm Korean.

It really is an easy choice. Pepperdine is in a wonderful location, but UCSD is a really great academic institution. Moneywise, I just can't see spending that kind of money for Pepperdine, unless you come from a very well off family or are getting substantial financial aid. You don't want to go into debt yourself for that, for sure, and I doubt if you want to put that burden on your family, when UCSD is such a great school.

Ask yourself, if you had a chance to get more personal attention with a smaller school, would you even use the opportunities? Most kids like to fade out into the crowds in classes or never visit a single professor in all their college years.

Also, what are you planning on studying?

Hmmm aveng, I'm the type of person that if I like the teacher then I really go out of my way to get close to them personally. I've had several dinners, even, with some of my closest teachers. I am actually unsure of what I'm studying. I applied to my schools in accordance to the strengths of the school, not my own preference. I applied to SD as a bio major and Pepperdine as an econ/business major. Don't get me wrong though. I'm actually very interested in both of these fields. Although I have always wanted to go to MedSchool if I could.

Hello,
I am a prospective transfer student from Pepperdine University who is studying Business. And I really want to transfer to UCSD, i love the school and what it has to offer, but it does not offer a Business major? What is the reason for this? And would i be doing myself a disfavor by switching my study to Econ to be able to study at UCSD or would i be better off staying at Pepperdine?

Just apply to both.
