Hello, all. I am taking the new sat for the first time next week. My grades are great, but due to troubles in my life my extracurriculars aren’t what I want them to be. I was hoping to balance this out with a perfect or near perfect SAT score. I have taken one practice test from the college board book, and scored a 710 on English and 770 on math. For reference, I got a 36 on my math act and 33 on reading, and 32 on the other sections. If I study for about 20 hours in the next week, would it be possible for me to get close to a perfect? Thanks, all reponses are deeply appericated
Sure, it’s possible.
Probably would’ve been a better word
Not probable, no.
@Blue1998 Awesome! I bet you can!
How do you solve the reading section? I virtually always mess up with the evidence-based and inference questions.
It is possible but it is a poor use of time and effort. A, say, 36 will not be viewed as much different from a 35. Once you reach a certain criteria, there is no significant difference in aptitude between a student with a 35 and one with a 36. Once the score is high enough, they check Yup and then look at your other credentials. A higher score will not compensate for missing ECs for the very competitive schools. You already have great grades and scores so put your energies into other things.
My goal is not the very competitive schools, actually. I will most likely go to Purdue. The goal at this point is scholarship money!
