your family might be interested in checking out this specifically ballet discussion board. It is moderated by a dance mistress at the Washington Ballet, and another from the Harid dance conservatory.
There are pages of discussions about different ballet training programs from the pre-school through professional levels. The sit eis called Ballet Talk for Dancers and the URL is http://dancers.invisionzone.com/index.php

It is a great spot to discuss training issues as well as just parenting the dancer issues.

I just found this thread. My daughter graduated from Interlochen in 2003 and is now a junior vocal performance major at Rice. She is extremely strong academically and was an ARTS finalist in voice. She started at Interlochen as a junior- far from our home in Dallas. It was an amazing experience for her and worth the sacrifice of having her away (and the $$$). We insisted on a strong academic program and she got 5s on all her AP exams. She felt that the academics at Interlochen were as good as her top prep day school here in Dallas, but without a lot of busy work. She made friends for life at Interlochen and had a myriad of choices for college.
I would be glad to provide any information if you want to PM me or ask questions here.

you must be xxxx's mother. I am Mary Anna Dennard.
Hope she is well and happy. ALthough I was never her coach, I did coach xxxxxxxx X. who is a senior at Interlochen now.

It's been a bit since I've posted but I thought I'd let everyone know how my d made out with her auditions and choices. She's at BBT this summer (Coppelia) and will be going to MCI and continuing on this fall with Bossov. She loves the program there this summer and although we miss her here at home, I think this is a fantastic opportunity. I wanted to thank everyone for all the advice and information they offered us. It truly was very helpful.
