Personal Challenges/Hardships

A few of the schools I'm applying to ask if there were any additional hardships I faces that impacted my abilities or academic credentials- it's optional, so I don't know if I should add something.

Sophomore year, the depression I had since 8th grade worsened a lot and I was missing a lot of school and eventually dropped two of my classes and didn't go to school for over a month. I made up the credits, but it still really affected my performance in the classes I did finish and my ECs, and I was still recovering the next year.

I'm not sure if I should write about this on my application because I know a lot of teenagers get depression and some people will probably be writing about having cancer or coming from a very poor family, so I don't want to seem like I think my struggle was worse than it really was. Any advice?

I just saw that no one replied to your post. I am sorry that I do not have the experience to give you a honest answer on this topic. I would strongly suggest that you talk to your guidance counselor, who will have far better experience with students and this (or similar) neuropsych issues.
