I have begun to work on my big essay for the common/universal app and I'm a little weary about the topic I have chosen. I know that the rule of thumb when discussing EC in an essay is to pick one that you are most passionate about and go in-depth, NOT to relist your various activities.

I have been very involved and passionate in 2 or 3 activities but chose to focus my essay on another activity that i wasn't as involved in. I did not begin this activity until junior year but for the first time, it was something i tried that was extremely new and unfamiliar, and i was definitely outside of my comfort zone. I talk about the unusual experience in my essay and how it led to an increased curiosity and somewhat of an alteration in some of my viewpoints. I then talk about how i remained a casual participant of this activity and used the experience to better my other, intensely involved/passionate activities.

I hope it was easy to understand, as i tried to be somewhat vague in the description for security issues (copying, etc.) My main concern is that with trying to relate the activity focused on with my passionate endeavors, it will come off as listing ECs, and perhaps a tad trite. If its too difficult to say without reading the finished product, sorry for the useless post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
