I understand that personal statements are for expressing why you want to attend med school or for explaining any discrepancies in your app.

But it makes me nervous to give the generic "I like helping people" response... is there anything specific that they want addressed or hell, even like to hear?

(sorry about the spazztic posting of new threads. i'm officially in med school admissions panic mode)

The thing is that there's only one right answer, and all the premeds in the country know it, and you have to find a creative, unique way to express it.

Fortunately, all people are unique and present unique stories. That's how the premedical statement should run: tell them stories. Tell them about the things that have happened to you, the opportunities you've had, and what you've learned from them.

I've heard it said that no one ever "falls" into medicine. You either were born to be a doctor or had a calling to the field...

Use your personal statement to explain which category you are and how you came to find that out.
