Do you know sites that offer tests for you to find out which careers will fit you the most? I know there are plenty online, but i dont know which is exactly a reliable toool.

Myers-Briggs is a good one to try. There are plenty of websites that offer this test.

Some colleges offer these services (interest inventories/personality tests) as part of the student life center or student employment services; community colleges are more likely, I’d think (at least mine did, and I came out an INFP on the Myers-Briggs, which is roughly 1% of the total population).

I also took an IQ test and the results were consistent with the INFP personality type, which is closely related to what’s called Gifted/Talented but is all too often misdiagnosed as a mental/behavioral problem like ADD/ADHD. The career advisor I had was very knowledgeable about the testing and helped me interpret the results. A little background, it’s based on the theories of personality by Carl Jung, and the modality used is actually the same or very similar to the “compatibility profiles” on dating sites such as eHarmony and Match.com! :)

See about testing services offered at your college or a nearby career-assistance center, like maybe a temp agency or something. It’s not a “test” in that you pass or fail but a survey of ideologies, beliefs, and skills related to not only the workforce but everyday life (but specifically the workforce because that’s how the results are usually applied). It can actually help you pick a major or select courses to study, too, because you are able to determine in which field/subject matter you’d do best in enough to pursue as a course or concentrate on for your education (which would ideally lead to a career). There are online sites where you can take the MBTI or a more in-depth one, called the Strong (which I took in addition to the MBTI). But I think it’s better to have a sit-down conversation session with a person who will help you go over and interpret the results and maybe offer some objective insight that you or the score hadn’t even thought of before! :)

Also, hope this isn’t breaking any forum rules by linking off-site, but there’s another forum I just discovered, called PersonalityCafe, which is devoted to discussions of how personality type affects one’s life course – work, family, school, friends, self-understanding, and how one views and interacts within the world at large (and maybe the world after this one, depending on what you believe). ;)

Best of luck :)

:)…

does your school use Naviance? I would ask them about it, as it really is a great tool for organizing your resumes and extracurriculars - and it also has a personality test available to anyone who uses it.

I found the blood type personality traits to be more accurate than the Briggs test. The blood types are used more in Asia and go by blood type, positives and negatives.

There’s a website that I recently discovered, Sokanu.

It asks you many questions about your personality, skills, and values and ranks a number of careers based on how closely you match. It’s a good place to start, I think.
