Petrochem.

I always thought this was just a sub-category of Chemical Engineering yet I'm seeing more and more people treating it as its own category. So, is it or what?

Could a Chemical Engineer get the job of a Petrochemical engineer?

On an unrelated note, how long do you guys think the Petrochemical Engineer's large salary will remain that way?

Petrochemical engineer is a made up term. The engineers who work in refineries are chemical engineers. Those who work in oil fields are petroleum engineers. Petrochemical industry refers to the combination of both.

You can major in Petroleum Engineering which has more of a focus on geology than chemistry.
