<p>I would like to know what the differences are in working for one of the majors (BP, Chevron, Shell, Conoco...) versus working for a service company (Halliburton, Schlumberger).</p>
<p>Big companies: structured new grad positions. For example, the big 5 companies have a 2-3 year rotational program so you can get 2-3 jobs and get a feel of what you like. As an engineering you can do reservoir, drilling, production, facilities, etc. Higher salaries in general. </p>
<p>Service: more field rotations, emphasis on technology, also a good rotational program.</p>
