<p>How strict are the no-pets rule? Not even, like one fish? I’d be so sad without my betta!</p>

<p>Sadly, Bryn Mawr is pretty strict on the no pets rule. Lots of local families walk their dogs on campus though and I’ve never been turned down from saying hi to a pup.</p>
<p>That being said: the Fair Housing Act guarantees that everyone who needs an “emotional support animal” can have one, as long as it does not create an undue nuisance to the other residents (and a fish most certainly would not). If you have a doctor’s note, it would be illegal for Bryn Mawr to not let you have a pet. </p>
<p>This is a well-known fact on some university campuses, but the news sadly never made it to Bryn Mawr in my time there…</p>
<p>Years ago, back in around 1972, one of my friends in Pem East occasionally babysat dogs for her profs during the weekend – Schlep (a lovable economics dept golden retriever) and Existence (a philosophy dept.bulldog).</p>
