<p>Can someone give me some information about the Honors College at Pace University? According to Pace's website my stats make me eligible for admission to the Honors College. So, I'd really appreciate some information from current or former students about how it is. What is the academic environment like? Is it comparable to more challenging universities? What are Honors students like? What are some graduate school options? What about merit scholarships?</p>

<p>I can only offer up a little info as my daughter is only an incoming freshman. What I found (at orientation) was some very smart kids that were offered admission to some of the better schools like NYU, Fordham, BU but were given a much more generous scholarship package at Pace so ended up there. These are kids with very high GPAs, lots of APs and very high standards that wanted to be in the city and couldn’t afford or weren’t willing to pay the pricetag on the other city private schools. Pace does require a lot more from them then the regular student. In turn, you get high priority for classes, a special advisor, some very challenging professors, special programs and other things that distinguishes you from the rest of the students. Like I said, I can’t really say how this plays out because she is just starting.</p>

Thank you so much. That is definitely very helpful. I’m iffy about applying to Pace, though I really want to be in NYC. Your post has pushed me towards applying. I hope your daughter has a good time and a successful academic career.</p>
<p>If you go back to some threads in this section, you will find that Pace does give generous scholarships to those are worthy. However, they have a high standard to evaluate the outcome of your acadamic achievements. If you cannot keepup the GPA with your peers, your aid may be cut or eliminated.</p>
<p>Their requirements may not adhere to their published literature, ie 3.0 or higher. But it might be pegged to the peer performance. Such as, if 90% of the peer group in the program gpa is at 3.5, those 10% is lower might be cut scholarship.</p>
<p>No matter how much scholarship you actually get, I just can’t justify going to Pace over a CUNY or SUNY that would be free. I’m pretty sure if you were competitive enough to get a scholarship in Pace you could easily get a free ride at a cuny or suny. Yes pace is known in NYC but it’s nothing outside of it. If you plan to do anything in business competitively you’ll probably want to get an MBA and that’s what will matter. Why pay any money for Pace if you can just get your bachelor’s free and just make your undergrad profile amazing. TBH, say macaulay barauch or even honors barauch and pace don’t look too diff on a undergrad resume for grad business schools</p>
<p>The problem with CUNY is that there is no campus housing. If you want a dorm experience and you want to be right in the city, then you have few options. (SUNY’s are not in the city). If you want to commute, CUNY is a great option, inexpensive option.</p>
<p>Also, you are assuming that OP is a NY resident. If you are out of state, you will not get a free ride at SUNY’s or CUNY’s.</p>

<p>That is very true, but if every student graduated from Pace gets a job in NYC that is all it counts, a job is a job, it does not make any difference to some Harvard graduates get a job in Montana or Tokeyo. College degree is only good when you try to open the door for a job, once you are in, it is your performance and experience counts.</p>
<p>And u will be surprised that how spread out is Pace Alumnis. I graduated in 1975 and I was suprised how many showed up when I went to an Alumni gathering sponsored by Pace in San Francisco. I even found some one graduated in my class from Pleasantville.</p>
<p>Apparently, it’s pretty competitive to get into honors but there are so many benefits! This guy graduated from honors and now he’s doing pretty well so it really doesn’t matter.</p>

<p>Back in the 70’s we did not have the honor’s college, but two of my classmates were on full scholarship, they kept on their 4.0 gpa and got number of offers from the then Big 8 and are very successful.</p>

<p>@breyes2696 I do believe they offer up to half-tuition. If you decide to dorm, they’ll give you more money, but not a full-ride.</p>
