For those of you who have taken this program, would you recommend it?

have they released who’s admitted yet?

Yeah they sent me an acceptance email on Monday. The program sounds interesting, but whats holding me back is that they require 8 hours a week in the lab.

If you’re serious about research, 8 hours a week is nothing.

Is anyone else going to do this program?

i heard it sometimes takes way more than 8 hrs depending on your data. i think that is normal though

In the chemistry department, undergraduates who take on CHEM 99/199 research credits are typically expected to commit 10-15 hours per week. In reality, we were there all the time whenever we weren’t there in class – 9 AM to 6 PM, frequently later, even weekends. Did we have to do this? No. Did we want to? Yup … most of the time.

Research isn’t just about showing your face for a few hours a week, it’s about learning and getting results. Results won’t just present themselves to you on a platter, you’ve got to put in significant effort to figure stuff out sometimes. But hey, if you actually like researching, then it’s an enjoyable process!
