Philippine Universities

So, I'm looking into applying to a couple schools in the Philippines as a financial safety (parents won't pay for a US school) but I don't know much about the university system in the Philippines (I haven't lived there since I was a toddler). My parents are interested in sending me to a top school like the University of the Philippines - Diliman, De La Salle University, or Ateneo de Manila University. This probably won't get many responses, but if anybody from the Philippines could tell me about admissions, academics, student life, and career preparation from schools like these, that would be great. I'm not really interested in these Asian schools, but I'm not looking forward to being thousands of dollars in debt either. :/

if you’re looking to return to the US i dont think your job prospects would be good if you get a degree in the philippines. there are decent colleges in the US that can meet your financial need without you going into debt (example, truman state uni). my mom got a degree in accounting in the philippines and when she came to the US she had to take a test in order for the degree to be legit or something like that cant really remember. if you have your heart set on living in the philippines i would check into some american campuses that are located there. i believe st. louis university has a branch campus located in baguio city, which my mom said is pretty nice. slu has a good rep and you’ll be more likely get your foot in the door with employers recognizing an american university name over a philippino one (even the top ones) any day. good luck

I know that the job prospects would be terrible - but my parents don’t want me to come back anyway. And it’s even worse, since my parents refuse to apply for US citizenship (I don’t even know why we came here in the first place when they feel that my becoming American is anathema), I’m just a permanent resident, and if I go back to the Philippines for an extended period of time, I’ll lose my right to come back. A school in the Philippines is my last resort, if all of the fed and schools I apply to here don’t give me enough finaid (or if they don’t accept me, since the American schools I’m thinking about are generally generous with their finaid, but have minuscule acceptance rates). I’m just considering Philippine schools because as much as they frustrate me, I don’t really want to be disinherited by my family, you know? So if anybody could tell me something about Philippine admissions, that would be great…
