We would see the lunar eclipse through light cloud cover, watching the moon “disappear” slowly. Then when it was full, we could still see the moon but it was a faint pink tint at best. Then by the time of the peak in our local, was clouded over more so we couldn’t see anything.

Went to the Rhodies Garden just to do some walking around some pretty bushes in bloom and stumbled upon their Blue Poppy Day! Free admission and lots of plants on sale! We bought a few blue poppy plants. Hope the garden pests leave them alone!

Just got home from Acadia NP. We always look for loons on the lakes there–they are such a symbol of the wildness of the place for us. Spent a good half hour watching this pair.
Most hikers appreciate when you point out wildlife to them as they walk by–we do. Then again, when we mentioned to a couple that there was a pair of loons nearby, the woman replied “Well, we’re from Minnesota, the loon is our state bird…so yeah…” It took all of my self-control to not reply with something snarky. I’m sure downtown Minneapolis is teeming with loons…riiiight.

Farm life… Our pony stallion, Titan, was helping us mow the lawn and got curious as to what H was doing in our feed/mud room. At this point in time he obviously wasn’t too hungry.
Can a human come out to play? And bring carrots!

If you want to see real wildness, I suggest Flagstaff Lake. Just don’t tell anyone else about it.

You know what, it’s closer to our house just north of Portland than Acadia is! Only 2 1/2 hours vs 3+. A nice drive. And probably no people from Minnesota. Shhhh!!

Ah, we live just south of Boston, so Acadia NP or Flagstaff Lake would both be 5.5 hrs away. I would rather be with Mainers anyway than with loon snobs from Minnesota! (No offense to CC members from MN who AREN’T loon snobs, lol.)

We have friends from MA, RI, and CT who own cabins near us. I can’t imagine making that drive so often, but they say it’s worth it.
It’s a beautiful drive from there to the border, and into Canada.

My husband loves Acadia NP, I need to remember to bring our pass. We make sure we come back more often. Years ago, I was able to catch a boat from Maine to Canada, but last time I was back, I was unable to, is it because of COVId,

Our bid rhodie is in full bloom this year. This plant is about 18-20 feet tall and is probably as old as the house.

I would have loved to see a loon! I hope I run into you in the future at some National Park. I will admire whatever you point out to me, whether it’s a roadrunner or a mink! Or even a flower or bug!
This is what happens when a puppy grows up only with humans. She thinks she’s supposed to walk on two legs! I had a terrible day today, so this picture of grand pup was needed

Got to visit my FIL for his 70th birthday party. He’s battling stage four cancer, so it was great to get to surprise him. These were in the corner of the yard and I just thought they were so pretty!
