Love this! Did you by any chance get this fun fact from Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? That is where I learned it.

They do a great job with the safari at Disney, speaking from experience with the real thing.

Lovely day for lunch on the patio of our golf course restaurant. A road runner decided to join us:

Meep! Meep!

My high school mascot is the chaparral. We would see them on my parents’ deck occasionally. :slightly_smiling_face:

Watch out for that coyote Mr. Roadrunner! And watch out for an anvil!

I think the coyote moved to my neck of the woods! (See my post a while back ) The anvil is still hanging out somewhere though…

We always joke about “where have all the anvils gone.” It was in an episode of Gilmore Girls that both D’s and I always quote. And as an aside when our girls rode horses we saw the blacksmith with his anvil on a regular basis.

If we weren’t heading out to our personal family Thanksgiving in a couple of days, the back one of these two would have been invited inside to our freezer. We’ve never had deer this close to our house before, esp opting to bed down. They’re literally right outside our living room window. If they come back after the “real” Thanksgiving… we’ll appreciate it. (H opened our upstairs bedroom window to see if they would spook - nope - should make for an easy kill, no tree stand needed.)

This is one of my favorite pics of my old buddy Gus. It had been raining and he was trying to decide if he’d go out or not. In the end he did go out.

He’s been gone 6 years now. But I always laugh when I see this picture.

My centerpiece is ready for the big day. I got a pretty flower arrangement in a cute turkey container at Safeway many years ago and saved the container. It became my traditional addition to the festive table. A bunch of flowers from TJ, a candle, and it looks almost professional.

They are now part of our morning ritual when I take the dog out. Everyone just kind of ignores one another and mutters “nothing to see here move along”:grinning:

Juvenile heron vainly trying to catch a fish for a meal/snack. We never saw him catch anything in the 2 mornings we watched him. I suspect that he may be fed by the timeshare staff.
