So is that a 3 year + 3 year program? Or a 4+2? 4+3? Anyone know?

Thanks!

Hi,

My daughter is a Health Science major and aspires to be a Physical Therapist. She had just this conversation with her advisor. It is a 4+3 program. You finish the degree at Gettysburg and there is an agreement with Drexel to accept 4 students into their DPT program which takes 3 years. Good luck.

Thanks! :)

Here’s some advice, though. Call the graduate programs you (or your student) are interested in and find out what the prerequisites are for admission. Gettysburg’s programs may be lean in some areas and students need to pick elective courses carefully. Most DPT programs want two or three English courses, two to three psych courses, pre-calc as well as all the science. The four courses a semester model that Gburg uses can leave you short if you don’t pay attention to what’s required. A student’s advisor needs to know up front what the plans are so he can help with the correct course selection.

My daughter has had conversations with admissions counselors at several PT schools and most cannot believe how hard it is for her to meet the pre-reqs with her regular coursework. (She entered the HS major as a sophomore) She will be taking courses for the next two summers to make up the gap.

Oh. Thanks. That’s good to know.
