I want to apply to Tufts this year. I am interested in Engineering Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Physics. Actually, I am fond of both Physics and Engineering, and can only choose a speciality after taking classes. Now, I have seen some people here in CC criticize the Physics department of Tufts for poor teaching. Are they right? Please be specific.

I would also appreciate reviews on the Engineering fields mentioned above. Do undergraduate engineering students engage in research at Tufts? What are the job prospects after Tufts?

I also want to go to grad school. Could anyone tell me which grad schools students go to after Tufts?

I majored in ME and Math at Tufts. I only took one physics class (calc-based E/M) and thought it was really well taught. I’ve heard complaints about some of the intro teachers, though. I have some friends who took more advanced classes but never heard much in the way of complaints (or praise, for that matter).

I have a lot of friends who were in the EECS department, though. I know some who did research in CS and lots in ME but I can only think of a few of my friends who did EE research (although I would assume there are plenty of opportunities).

I’m currently in the ME department at Stanford - I have another friend here who studied ME at Tufts the year after me and is also in ME at Stanford. I have friends who studied EE at Tufts and are currently in the EE, CS, and ICME departments at Stanford. Some of my close friends who were also ME’s at Tufts are in MS and PhD programs at MIT, Georgia Tech, and BU, to name a few schools. There are also plenty of people who decide to stay at Tufts for an MS (or PhD).
