Physics help

I bought the Kaplan booklet for Physics, however I've heard it's not that good.

I finished reading my Physics high school book. The thing is, I only covered MECHANICS in two years of high school. Pretty lame, don't you think? Anyway I've finished reading the chapters regarding Electricity and Magnetism, Waves and Optics, and Heat, Temperature, etc.

It is not necessary to say my knowledge on this subjects is rather meek. Anyway, I'll start studying the sparknotes things on Physics.

My question is: How good is the sparknotes online thing? Is the explaining thorough enough? Does it cover the test contents? The sparknotes' practice tests, are they accurate? Is it worth it to buy the other practice tests sparknotes offers?

Any info is very welcome!

spark notes did not work for me. I did pretty well on those practice tests and i thought i was going to be ok for October 3rd....but there were a lot of question types that were not on it and i was very dissapointed.

But who knows, it probably worked for many people, give it a shot.

Thanks.

Yeah, I'll give it a shot. However, I'm under the impression that cause it's free it won't be that good. I hope I'm wrong though. Anyone else?

i was in the same position as you. i did teach myself all the other topics in 2 weeks...i used princeton review and sparknotes..

i thought it worked out fine...i think i did arite on the test. just need to find the time to really understand the concepts to the best of your ability.

and how similar are the sparknotes practice tests to the real test?

up ... ! up ... !

sorry I don't know about Sparknotes thing. But do you want to know what I though just after I took Physics in November? I was just getting out of the test center, thinking PR was kind of, I mean, really accurate. Just my 2 cents.
PS: lol Kaplan sucks. I got 4 consequent 800's.

thanks tsenguun, how much did you score on the real physics test? And on the PR practice tests?

i just did the sparknotes practice test and scored 670. How accurate is this damn thing? Oh, how generous the curve is! I need to study more ...

The physics curve is the most generous among the other subjects. A raw score of 65 would still bring you a 800.
@danielcarp17: I scored around 750 and (am) expecting a 750. Well, let's see what happens on Nov 20 (2 or 3 more days left).

EDIT Sorry to hijack this thread. But, should I include "am" grammatically?

I guess am is necessary, or you should have written "I scored around 750 and expect a 750".

I've scored approximately 670 on my sparknotes exams, however on the 15 sample questions collegeboard gives I only scored two wrong. I'll get my Kaplan book hopefully on Monday, and my PR book next week. I'm a bit anxious to know how much I really know.

Hey, PR sells three online practice tests for 20 bucks. Are those tests the same as the ones in the PR Physics Book?

Probably not, since there are only 2 tests in the book; which absolutely stinks by the way. I mean I'm also taking Lit test, and barron's for that test has 9 practice tests, while PR, which everyone said was better than Barron's for physics, only has 2 physics tests. What the heck! Heck! Heck! HECK!!!

I thought the physics PR book had 4 practice tests. 2 sounds kind of lame.
Anyway, if the tests are different, those available online for $20 seem a good choice.
