I'm interested in going into physics with a concentration in astrophysics or something of the sort. I know the generic physics rankings, but for something like this are there any colleges that really stand out above the rest? Thanks.

Where do you live?

I’m talking state or metro area, not your address.

I live in Montana.

Physics curricula are pretty much the same all over the U.S. for the Bachelor’s degree in physics. Find a school which meets your budget and if you want to continue on to graduate school, make sure it has a full range of courses you can take to get a complete physics degree (2 semesters of Classical Dynamics, 2 semester of Electrodynamics and 2 semesters of Quantum Mechanics at the Junior/Senior level). and which has the research opportunities that you can use to gain experience necessary to compete for admission to the graduate school you want to attend.

If you plan to get an advanced degree, the graduate program you attend is much more important.

If in Montana then I’d say either University of Washington or UC Boulder are the best physics schools in your region.
