Physics vs Applied Physics

I was admitted to the physics program at Columbia University but I was wondering if it was worth transferring to SEAS to applied physics. Although I like the core, I feel the number of classes dedicated to it is just too much. That said, I am not sure if applied physics is for me. Could you please tell me how it differs from the pure physics program and what classes would I have to take for the major. Also, if you could share your experience as any at any of the two departments I would be glad to listen to it.
Thanks NB
