What possible college majors are you considering, or are you totally undecided? What type of schools (level of selectivity) are you considering? And what is "honors chem/phys"?

Notre Dame

My sons are looking at Engineering and the schools all recommended 2 years of physics. I am not sure about business majors or why they would want a physics requirement.

Most Universities seem to want 3 - 4 years of science but I have not seen a physics requirement. I have seen a physical science requirement with a lab but that also includes Chemistry I believe.

The only way to answer your question is to look at the particular schools which interest you and see what they "require" and "recommend" for high school preparation. It will vary by school; as well, I have put the terms in quotes, because even very selective schools will relax their requirements and recommendations in some cases.

Thinking that Notre Dame is probably the most selective of the schools you are considering, here is what their website says re hs preparation:

Looks like you would be fine for your projected majors. Do the same online search for a few schools and you will probably relax. You appear to be fine for the type of plans you have.
