In March 2009, applicants will be able to pick which SAT scores they want their schools to see - which may not affect superscoring between various sessions, but will allow only the highest score to be seen.

is this for real. does this apply to all the schools? and can i take the SAT before march 2009 and pick the score i want when march 2009 comes along.

^ Yes (10char)

not fair for seniors!!! haha

Wait...so do you send in your best score, or can you mix and match to send in a superscore of sorts?

nah they say 1 sitting on the page, so no superscore :(

I preferred the old system with superscoring and can be seen by all!!!

Tis a pity to be a rising sophomore...

this new system doesn't mean there isn't superscoring! just b/c you can't pick and choose sections (CR, M, W) to report from individual sittings doesn't mean colleges won't superscore what you report... the only reason i can think of for someone to not report one of their SATs is if all 3 sections from that test are lower than any others.

for example,

1st sitting: CR 600, M 600, W 700 (1900)
2nd sitting: CR 500, M 500, W 500 (1500)
3rd sitting: CR 700, M 700, W 600 (2000)

This person could choose to hide their 2nd sitting of the test.

Also, they can't choose to report 1st sitting ONLY Writing and 2nd sitting ONLY Reading + Math... They have to report all W, M, and CR from each sitting.

But colleges will still superscore this (1st + 3rd sitting), and so the student would have a 2100 (since their highest was 700 for each section).

^Good point. Superscoring is beneficial to all...

There have been lots of threads on this. Here is the official College Board link:

wait but isn't it true that colleges can force you to send all of your scores regardless of this new policy
