Picking teacher for sample lesson

My son is a junior very interested in pursuing a BM in a liberal arts college setting. We're creating a list of schools to visit and I've read in a post about arranging for a sample voice lesson during that visit. My question is "What are some ways to identify the teacher with whom to take that lesson?" Some of these schools have many voice teachers; it seems like a bit of a crapshoot to figure out which one would be best for him.

Your best resource is his current voice teacher. If the teacher isn’t familiar with the faculty at the school, s/he likely has contacts to ask and find out who might be good matches for your son.

Another helpful thing might be to Google each potential teacher or find their personal websites so you can gauge what their own preferred/main repetoire is. If you can’t get a feel for their personality, at least you can usually find enough info on professors to see if they have similar musical interests as your son. A professor who loves to sing Bach may not be the best fit for a student who loves Weber’s operas. Then again it’s only one factor, as a professor who plays different music than their student wants to focus on could still be the right professor if the personalities match up well.

You may also want to consider taking lessons from more than one teacher if you cannot decide between two.
