If I applied on September 3rd, and my application was marked as complete on September 10th, when should I be expecting an notification from Pitt about acceptance?
Hello! Due to the volume of applications our Admissions Committee is working through, we’re estimating the first batch of admissions decisions will go out sometime in the first half of October.
Good luck!

Thank you!
Oh no! My D applied beginning of August. In the past you have said mid-late September. She was hoping to hear next week. She is crushed.
@Homedayton, This is our first year on the Common Application, so we are estimating a longer wait time for everyone simply because we need to process and read the influx of applications from a new source along with the applications that come through our application and the Coalition Application. We are working hard to give everyone an efficient and thorough review and we will contact your daughter with a decision as soon as we can. Good luck to her!

@hailtopitt1787 D sent in her application on Monday via the Common App and has yet to receive any email confirmation that it was submitted. Any idea how long it takes to get an email? Thank you!
@opallady, She should be getting an email with information about logging into the applicant portal very soon. If she doesn’t hear from us by the middle of next week, I would encourage her to call our office to check the status of her application. 412-624-7488.

Hi my daughter applied to Pitt 8 or 9 days ago via the common app. I think this is the first year that Pitt accepts the common app. Believe me i know that when any process is new, there are going to be issues that need to be resolved. My question to a Pitt Admissions Staffer is does my daughter need to be worried that maybe her application was not received? She has not yet gotten any response to her application so she’s a little stressed. As long as she can feel confident that the application was received and she just needs to be a little patient I think that will ease her mind a bit.
I don’t think she needs to worry! There is a slight delay between when a student submits their Common Application and that data is loaded into our system. Of course, it’s hard to tell you anything decisively without looking at her specific profile. If it would help ease her mind, she is more than welcome to contact us and ask about the status of her application: 412-624-7488. Our Processors answer the phone M-F 8:30 a.m. - 5: p.m. and they are happy to look her up in our system and make sure we received her application.

@hailtopitt1787 If I applied through the coalition application, should I expect to hear back really soon?
@js2023, It depends on when you applied and what you are waiting to hear - are you referring to the access to log in to the portal? That estimate is about the same for Common and Coalition. It takes a few days for us to process the application and then a few days for Pitt’s Technology Help Desk to get the email out to you. If it’s been more than a week and a half or so, feel free to contact our office and ask about the status of your application: 412-624-7488.
If you are asking about how long the wait is for an admissions decision, we are estimating 4-6 weeks due to the high volume of applications we get this time of year.
Hope that helps!

Hi everyone, I a, seeing everyone mention an “app” where they can see accept and decline buttons and I wanted to know what app you are talking about? I have the website where I applied but it only updated me that my SRAR were sent and when I update the information on my account. Is there another app? If it is the Pitt PS Mobile app, how do you log in? Because it asks for a username and password and if you don’t have it, it asks for information that I don’t have yet. If anyone could help me out I would be greatly appreciative, I would hate to miss out on accepting or decking my application. Thank you!
@hailtopitt1787 Thank you - I hope so! D wrote in to admissions late last week to verify that her application was received but they only responded to her regarding an SRAR link question and nothing about her application (sent in one week ago - still no word). Can you please clarify if there is really in fact an issue that others have been discussing regarding an uploading problem via the Common App? What should she do? Thanks for your help.
Hello! We apologize for delays with processing the Common Application. Please note that this delay will NOT impact committee decisions. We recognize the original date of application submission no matter when the application is processed. We anticipate fully processing the students who have applied via the Common Application by the end of the week. This does not mean that they will be reviewed by committee yet, although that’s very soon, but they should receive confirmation of their completed application via email and if they call with questions, our staff will be able to see their application and are ready to help.
