Pitts med vs Brown med

Assume I could get into both med schools, which one I should pick. I would like to listen to people's opion on CC. Thanks a lot in advance!

Its best to worry about this type of scenario, once you ACTUALLY GET INTO BOTH MEDICAL SCHOOLS.

Yep, you can never assume you’ll get into any medschools. Even if you have a 4.0 and 40 MCAT people get rejected for all sorts of reasons.

If you are fortunate enough to be in the situation where you get to pick between those two schools then I presume you would pick whichever one’s program most appeals to you or based on location or financial aid or w/e.

Michelle,

What year are you in college?

What is your GPA?

The above posters are right. Worry about that question once you have acceptances in hand.

I preferred Pitt over Brown personally. Plus, more merit based aid for me. Brown was more cozy, more integrated into the undergrad campus, and they definitely worked harder than any other school to whoo you during the day. I just clicked better with my interviewers and the students at Pitt. Also really dug their facilities. Didn’t care for their grading system though (don’t remember if Brown was true p/f but given their undergrad philosophy it wouldn’t surprise me). If they had offered me full scholarship instead of 20k I would have gone there over all other schools. Definitely was in my top 5 overall and top 3 of those I was accepted to. It was the one school that was universally spoken highly of and that I personally found nothing wrong with (not counting grades). I just didn’t fall in love with it, but it was incredibly well rounded. Hope that my opion helps ;)

All American allopathic medical schools will allow most students to achieve their medical education goals. So you could pick either depending on your experience interviewing and feeling of fit. Cost may be an issue. If, however you wish to enter a competitive specialty or residency it can make a difference where you go. Pittsburgh is a top notch medical school with a lot of excellent clinical departments and could very well give you an edge in competing for your next level of training. I think that most of my colleagues would rate Pitt as just below the top ten in medical school reputation while Brown would be considered mid tier.

You will have to make decision when you have choices. Most people aim at having ONE spot in ANY American Med. School. How many do you have currently, at which schools? Normally applicants have some kind of opinion after interview. Then, if they still struggle with decision they go on second visit. You are the only person who can decide which one is better for YOU. Nobody can decide for you. Does Brown have spots outside of PLME?

Michelle’s son is a senior in HIGH SCHOOL. It’s is waaaaay too early to be concerned with this. Since he’ll likely be applying to 12 -20 med schools, it is completely unknown whether he will get accepted to either of these schools. AND, there’s a good chance he won’t even be pre-med in the end.
