I have just been admitted to Pitzer College and the University of Rochester, and I am currently deciding between the two. I plan to major in Biology or Human Biology and pursue the pre-medical track. Research opportunities, weather, academics, prestige, dorms, quality of professors, and diversity are important to me. I cannot visit the campuses because of the spread of COVID-19, so if you know information about either school, please help me out.
With respect to some of your questions, the University of Rochester resides on a classically arranged, riparian campus a few miles from downtown Rochester and Lake Ontario; invites geographical diversity through a notably high international presence; and experiences a four-season climate with winter snow suitable for the adventurous.
@merc81 you should write copy for Roch’s marketing materials
I should add that UR would be well suited to your academic interests and medical school aspirations.
I went to Scripps College and my husband went to Pomona. You cannot beat the location of the Claremont Colleges! I loved being a part of the Claremont Colleges and being able to take classes at the different schools. I would go to Pitzer! We are from upstate New York. My son actually was just accepted to University of Rochester and is considering it. I did like what Rochester had to offer too, but if I were chosing, I’d pick Pitzer. I tried to convince him to apply to the Claremont Colleges, but he didn’t want to go that far. It does get cold here, so think about whether you want to spend your college years in flip flops and shorts or snow boots and jackets.
