Here is a handy link to view after receiving math placement tests results:

Is it possible to take the math placement test and test out of Math 221 & 222 and then not have to take the AP BC Calculus exam? Or is the point of taking the AP exam to earn the 5/10 credits possible from BC Calculus?

I was wondering if there’s some sort of limit on how many credits you can come in with. I have the possibility of earning about 40 credits through AP exams and CAPP courses, so I was wondering if only some of these would actually count while others wouldn’t.

The math placement test doesn’t test calculus

I am not aware of a limit. See link below:

BuckyOrBust, if you are a resident of the state of Wisconsin, this is an important thing to consider when deciding how many credits you should come in with:

[Excess Cumulative Credits | Office of the Registrar | University of Wisconsin?Madison](http://registrar.wisc.edu/excess_cumulative_credits.htm)

Oh, nevermind, I just realized that it doesn’t include AP credits.

Do NOT worry about too many AP credits (btw- others will have as many as you do). They will help you meet requirements and advance your class standing after your first semester, which means an earlier registration time in the future (not your second semester, however, as you have to complete the semester for the credits to be applied).

Consider the Honors math- calculus sequence- if you do well on the AP exams. A passing grade of only 3 is not “doing well”- many students repeat calculus from the beginning as the UW sequence is more rigorous, even for the regular series. Prove you have learned the material by getting 5’s on your AP exams.

Wis75- maybe that’s the way it was, but it changed a few years ago. AP credits are applied in July/August after AP results are complete. The AP credits will help for second semester registration. Also, any language retro credits get posted to your transcipt/record when grades are posted after your first language class.

Right, so if you take the language class in summer, right after you graduate from high school, you get the retro credits in time before enrollment times are determined in Oct/Nov for Spring semester.
