do you all know any places in or on campus or do ya'll know any persons that does hair on campus?

I’m not sure of the services provided, or the reviews / ratings on any of the following places, but I do know that they exist. Barbers/hair stylists usually pick their own hours, so you may want to call to see when they open/close.

All of these are on “The Drag.”

Wooten Barber
2106 Guadalupe Street, Austin, TX - (512) 477-0109

The Mane Express - Dobie Mall
2021 Guadalupe Street, Austin, TX - (512) 474-4191

Ricks Hair Salon
2416 Guadalupe Street, Austin, TX - (512) 476-6960

oh ok, i’ll see the kind of services they all have. thank you

You’re welcome. Good luck with the service.

do you know if any does hair of all textures?

I’m really not sure. You can always call each of them and see what’s up.

Evidently the reviews at Wooten are that the barber cracks jokes, is a little too social, and looks across the street a lot. If you’d rather get in and get out without socialising with your stylist/barber too much, then I don’t know if I’d go there.

The reviews I saw for all three are mostly positive, but that doesn’t always mean they’re right for everyone.

The Mane Express inside Dobie is really good. That’s where I always went. It was really quick for a good quality cut. I went like Thursdays at 3pm and it was deserted.

Well I won’t be doing haircuts, I hate short hair but more like a place that washes hair of all hair texture.

There is the 9.99 place on Guadulupe.

If you’re a guy and want an old-school enviroment then Wooten Barbershop is your best bet. Its packed on most days and a bit pricey but its well sorth it. BTW, don’t ask for a faux hawk or anything weird otherwise you’ll get kicked out ;)

What kind of textures are you alluding to?

like black hair.

any more places?

This may help: [Salon for African American hair (Austin: hair salon, prices, shop) - Texas (TX) - City-Data Forum](Salon for African American hair (Austin: hair salon, prices, shop) - Texas (TX) - City-Data Forum)

some of them seem pretty far.

Price you pay to look good.

aww man… i dont even have a car.

You should go to S & R Salon at 5903 Wellington Drive. It’s about 10 minutes away from campus if you drive. A relaxer with a wash and style is $55. Rosalind is REALLY good but Shawna’s great too :)

hi, buzz65,

I took the above salon address and input UT (yes, just “UT” works) - salon address in the Trip Planner on the Capital Metro home page. Voila! 24-minute ride, no transfer, $1. See:

[Capital Metro Transit - Austin, Texas](http://www.capmetro.org/index.asp)

Here’s another good link for students without cars:

[Shuttles | Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) | The University of Texas at Austin](<a href=“Shuttles | Parking & Transportation | The University of Texas at Austin”>Shuttles | Parking & Transportation | The University of Texas at Austin)

Also, don’t forget, once you get settled in, you’ll start making friends. And some friends will have cars!

I found another place that is north of the campus and it has good ratings and I think its walkable since its a block from the communications building.
