Is NYU or Columbia accessible by public transportation?
Easily. At most, you may need to cross town, then go north/south, but overall it should be simple. They’ll help you at the front desk.
Is 700-800 bucks(with tax) for three nights a good price in NYC?
I’m probably gunna choose Holiday Inn Manhattan Financial District cuz the price is kinda lower and there’s metro station close by. What do u guys think?
And what area in Boston would be most convenient to travel to colleges by public transportation?
The financial dist. in NY is fine, but kind of dead at night. If midtown is a bit more expensive it may be worth it to be in the thick of things, day and night. If it was me I would look into a short term rental like someone above suggested. You get more for your money, including a kitchen. Tons of NYers sublet their apts. GL
As for Boston, I like Brookline, and you can get the “T” to Cambridge, etc.
So are you talking about like Airbnb? It doesn’t matter if it’s dead at night as far as the fidi. I like it cuz the average rate is under 200 and the nearby subway can take us to time square, NYU, Empire State Building and etc directly.
And I didn’t find many affordable hotels in Boston probably cuz it’s so small. I may try to find a Airbnb there cuz I’m gunna stay there for maybe 4 days. Anybody has any experience with Airbnb or suggestions? I would love to learn some. Thank you so much!
I’m applying to Davidson College as my Early Decision.
@jackwang0703 How did you come to that decision? What made you like it better than all the other colleges you saw?
oh wow, congrats
Well first of all I don’t know what I wanna major in or do for my career, so I figured an LAC would be a better choice for me. I also like smaller school size because I’m kinda used to it during high school so that I could develop closer relationships with my professors and friends. It was pretty convenient to visit since it’s only half an hour from downtown Charlotte by car. The campus is pretty beautiful with lots of trees and the people in town were very amiable. Davidson is also in D1 for most varsity sports which provides a different experience from other LACs. The academics is known to be very strong and its reputation among grad schools is highly respected as well. Plus the weather there is generally nicer than the northeastern LACs.
I would like to know everybody’s opinion of Davidson and if its worth ED even though I won’t change my decision.
Even though it is a very competitive and reputable school, it is not as well known in the United States as the other top LACs. It’s mostly due to its southern location and less endowment in my opinion. Where would you guys rank Davidson among LACs and among all colleges?
what I actually mean is where would you place Davidson among LACs or all schools? Like top 10 or top 20? Or what LACs and national universities are comparable to Davidson academically? Since Davidson is not very popular on the Internet, I just want to get a better sense of what people actually think of it.
