Thank you Rafael428. Your kind words are greatly appreciated. Warm regards, Jenny’s mom.

Plan II uses Liberal Arts placement. They don’t have their own. The ones that do well double major in business or engineering. At graduation, all the kids walk across the stage and announce what they will be doing next. The only ones who had jobs were business or engineering. My other daughter who attends UT is in their MPA program (Master’s of Public Accountancy). Their employment rate of grads is 98%.

I think Plan II itself a good major but choose double major, it would be much better. I recommended my D to apply to Plan II and CNS honors as a double major. She will be in pre-med path, though. Plan II director told us that many Plan II students to advace to pretisge medical school. I belive Plan II (a liberal art) works well with pre-med path, too.

Please visit Jenny Kutner’s website. You will see the result of a VERY successful Plan II education. Her most recent article has been the Number 1 read on Texas Monthly for over a week now. I really don’t think this would have been possible without her experience, the educators, the other amazing students and the administration at Plan II.

PK,

What you haven’t read and what you don’t seem to understand is that prior to my post, another reader linked Jenny’s blog and was slamming Plan II based on Jenny’s take on her Plan II education based on the face valve of Jenny was saying. That poster and me for that matter didn’t see the humor in it (I still don’t) when it makes other students question the program’s merits. I understand that she might have been joking, and that’s great, but not everyone reads it that way.

On another note, I have read her writing in Texas Monthly and it was by far the most moving article I have ever read by any writer, young, old, male, or female. Her story is moving, heart breaking, emotional, and victorious. I commend you on being able to support her through that.

Please know that writing is personal and people take it personally. When a great student turns down an outstanding program because of a “joke” about that program that frankly was written as if it is the way it is, it is very disappointing to people who love, support and are passionate about the program.

Best,
CS

CS -
Thank you for reading Jenny’s article and I appreciate your kind words about her writing. However, if you go back and read what you wrote about her in your initial comments, it’s not very nice. Regardless of what you felt about her humor, you said these things (lies) about a 22 year old and someone’s child. All you had to do was Google her name and you would have seen her “about me” page where she praises her Plan II education.

I think everyone has a right not to like Plan II education. Everyone has a right to defend Plan II education. Every Plan II student has a right to write. Every Plan II student has a right to risk with a controversial writing. Jenny, If I allow to advise, I would say “Go ahead and don’t compromise.”

I am a huge fan of both Plan II and Jenny Kutner. My daughter is a junior in Plan II and she’s had great professors and great opportunities because of Plan II. Plan II has good scholarship money as well. Regarding Jenny Kutner, my daughter had some interaction with her while Jenny was still at UT, and came away in awe of Jenny. Just call me a Jenny Kutner fan. Love her recent article in Texas Monthy - just terrific.

A Plan II Success Story - fantastic program!!

I am still making a point to find Jenny’s articles online from Salon and Texas Monthly. She is a terrific writer and I know that the Plan II staff and students are very proud of her of what she accomplished while she was in Plan II, and now that she is has graduated and working as a writer. As for Plan II, my daughter is now a senior in Plan II. Plan II has opened some doors for her I believe. She has had good feedback from graduate programs where she is applying and she has also received many scholarships from Plan II and the College of Liberal Arts while at UT. It’s a model honors program.
