Planning a Trip to Europe...where should I go?

Not really high school related, but I am planning a trip to Europe and need help picking some destinations! I have about 8 days without travel. I need to spend at least a few visiting friends in the Netherlands. And I need to go to London because I bought tickets to a show :)

I would like to see five cities...I know that is pretty ambitious lol.

So far I have...
1. London
2. Paris (Been before but only for a day and was pretty young)
3. Rome or Venice?
4. Zurich/Somewhere in Switzerland
5. Amsterdam (Been before but only for a day and was pretty young)

Alternates: Barcelona, Vienna

Should I change/switch anything?

Thanks! :)

Don’t miss out on Poland! Most beautiful country in the world :)

Va a Paris! c’est ton tour, mais il te serverait bien aller a la ville de l’amour ;)

I recommend picking one region. It will be easier to travel and you can spend more time at the destinations.

I’m hoping to stick to far Western Europe and England because of the time frame. Italy is pushing it, but I would really love to visit and since airfare is crazy high, it may be a longgg time before I have the chance to come back and tour Italy and Spain. Ah choices, choices… :)

Just go to Geneva. Beautiful, so beautiful…

1) London–only one show? sign up for as much as you can! they have cheap tix like NY does at its tix booth! fabulous fun!
2) Paris–I’d live there if it wasn’t so expensive! Hit the underground. Make a plan–Eiffel tower, etc, just run around if you have one day!
3) oooo…Rome over Venice? hard call. So much to do in both venues. You can’t go wrong either way. But Rome has SO much history that simple fascination will keep you going. And you can run around it faster to see more things in a shorter amount of time. Venice is super cool but being limited transportation wise and the most expensive of all trips can take more time and money than you may be willing to part with presently (especially with limited time.) I was in Rome two days and it felt like a life time…

Florence is wonderful. Be aware you may need ticket reservations for museums you want to go to. (This applies to just about all of Europe) Reservations need to be made NOW. In America before you leave.
All of Italy is wonderful. Visit the Vatican. If the Vatican comes up in any option make sure you go on some sort of tour or have a guide.
Use guides–we went to the Coliseum in Rome (oh, yeah, we didn’t need that guide offering his services to get us in…oh yes we did! Not only more fun but we saved hours in line. Learned a lot more and went to the Vatican the next day with him)
Most important==YOUR SHOES!! You have limited time, a fabulous opportunity! Lots of fun in front of you! I CANNOT underemphasize the importance of your shoes!

Rick Steve’s site is invaluable.

Planning a Trip to Europe…where should I go?

Oh god the irony in this…

You JUST SAID YOU WERE PLANNING A TRIP TO EUROPE. NOW YOUR ASKING US WHERE TO GO? YOUR GOING TO THE COUNTRY OF EUROPE.
Do you mean, Should I go to Europe or change my mind and go somewhere else.

You really need to pick 1, maybe 2 countries. Anyway, My favorite city is Florence Italy by far. So beautiful and much more peaceful than Rome for sure. Forget all about Venice.

I’ve been to all except Zurich, I would say Rome over Venice if you’re going when it’s going to be super hot. Rome is kinda dirty, so I wouldn’t recommend more than a few days if that will bother you.

I was little when I was in Amsterdam, but it is beautiful!!

I’m going to London this summer :)

Sorry posted too soon -___- Paris is my favorite city… Ever stay as long as possible, there’s a ton to do!

@madomgd are you serious…?

@OP it seems like you’re going to be spending a lot of time in big cities, if you want a break from that look into staying in Sorrento or Capri. You can visit Naples and Pompeii from both places with a short subway ride, that part of Italy is by far my favorite. Florence is beautiful as well, and I loved loved loved Pisa! You can’t really go wrong with Italy in general though :)

^
well said, Pompeii is a cool half day and Florence and pizza are quite possibly the “chillest” cities on earth. I personally didn’t care for napples thou. A little dingy In a new-world type of style, a bit like the Bronx lol

@collegeofcod I agree about Naples… I was there during a “trash strike” and we accidentally got stuck driving through the entire city on our way to Sorrento… I really don’t like Naples… All I think of now is the smell and how annoying it is when Italians will just stop their cars in the middle of the street and talk to friends. To me, Pisa literally defines everything I think of when I think of Italy and the culture. Vatican city/Rome were actually probably my least favorite places, but don’t let that stop you

What city are you flying into and departing?

Obviously too much to do and to much fun to be had…you’ll love whatever your experience if you watch out for pick pockets and YOUR FEET!!! Learn all the scams and how to protect your footsies!..

well i was going to put for hot girls go to Spain but youre a girl so never mind lol, anyways, Germany, is, AMAZING. i lived there for 4 years, those were the best 4 years of my life, the foods awesome, they have a lot of culture, and theyre really nice over there, plus it looks really nice and clean there, you have to go there. :D

LOL at madomgd’s ■■■■■ attempt.

^ I agree. Is there anything keeping your from going anywhere (ie. are there any constraints)?
