Planning about 2 years ahead, trying to get an idea of MBA Chances

Hi, I'm new to CC. Sorry in advance about the long post. I'm planning on applying to MBA Programs in about two years, but just trying to get a feel for things as I start preparing. I took the GRE right after graduation through a program at my school and scored well, but may take it again to get to 760+.

My stats:
Asian American
Top 25 Public State University
Grant/Proposal Writer/Consulting at a Policy Research Organization in Boston
Dual degree in Economics and Finance
3.29 Overall, 3.5 In major for Econ (primary degree), Dean's List in Junior and Senior years
740 GMAT
Service experience: Alumni mentor and adviser to undergraduates, Alumni organization board member
Honor Societies: Phi Kappa Phi (Top 10% of Class), Omicron Delta Kappa
Extracurriculars in undergrad: University Sponsored Governing Organization President (Treasurer in previous year), University Student Affairs Council (Appointed by the Vice President of Student Affairs), University Student Budget Council (Evaluated student organization budget proposals and distributed funding), National Cultural Student Advocacy Organization Board Member, Founded a minority/diversity career networking organization that brought company recruiters to campus to meet with minority/underrepresented student leaders, Business Consulting Club Member

Personal background: I grew up in a rural, southern town and never was exposed to big cities until I was in college. My parents never exposed me to much outside of our home state. Being in a big city and going to a big school were never really things that I could imagine, mainly just because of how things were for kids in my town. Most people I know don't go too far for college, nor do they go to top schools. Some people go to work in Washington DC, about 6 hours away, or Charlotte, NC, about 4 hours away, but a disproportionate amount of people end up staying here after they graduate college.

Fast forward to almost 1.5 years later, I ended up working in consulting/finance for a Policy Research Organization in Boston. I honestly never would have expected myself to be here, but it was definitely a great decision for both professional and personal growth. Being at my company has exposed me to researchers/fellows/professors from Harvard, Yale, MIT, and many other prestigious places. I really value these experiences and the chance to work with some brilliant professionals.

As I make it through this transition point in my life, I'm looking ahead to MBA programs and really researching schools that always appealed to me, but never seemed possible. I realize my GPA is on the lower end, though I've been taken some classes at Harvard Extension School (probably not worth much) and other Boston universities with all As. I'm looking to expand my search to any schools that may fit, regardless of location. If anyone could direct me toward schools that are a match for my stats, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sorry for such a long post! Thanks for any assistance.

What is your career goal?
Business schools care less about your collegiate extracurriculars but your job progression is more important. Your post looks like an application to undergrad, not grad school. You want to think about why you need an MBA to achieve your stated goals.

Don’t listen to the immature (probably teenage) a-hole.

You have a shot at top 15 schools if you spin a compelling story including your goals that build upon your life experiences.

Also consider PT at Booth/Kellogg/Haas.

You can fly in and do the weekend programs at all 3 (though Haas may be too far).

Depending on your goals, doing so can definitely be worthwhile.

740 is just fine…
