Planning for the Future

Dear Members,

I haven't posted or read this forum in over a year, since my days as a high school student looking at colleges. Now I am at a time in my life to start planning for the future and the potential to go to graduate school. A little about me. I am currently in my second year at a state school. I am pursueing a double major in computer science and mathematics. GPA is 3.65. I'm not sure what I wish to do study in graduate school. I'm pretty sure its not either of my main major such as computer science or mathematics. I am more interested in computer simulation and data modeling.

I am aware that graduate schools look for research potential. This year, I have just been working as a TA for a calc class grading papers. For this summer I am looking research position at my local university. They have a research lab that is very famous in the united states. I am trying get into there for the summer and then work during the semester as well. Some of the research going on is GPA and navigation systems, Fluid Dynamics, Computer Simulation (3d imaging). All of these are of interest to me and if I had time to do everything I would.

I am currently leaning toward working with a researcher in fluid dynamics. The research uses matlab and other simulation tools.

I am just curious of future and current graduate schools of any adivice you can give me about preparation for the application process for graduate schools. I didn't mention it earlier, but I am hoping to go for a PHD. What kind of department would I look at? Mechanical Engineering? Applied Math?
I'm taking a practice GRE here that is being adminstered by a company. We'll see how I do on those. Either way, I'll be preparing for them. Should I be looking to take the Math subject GRE test too?

Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.
