Andover (at least in 2016) sent their acceptance package without tracking. Thus, it was a big surprise when it arrived on M10.
My son received his acceptance to the LDS where he applied, so we’ll be celebrating this weekend together with CTKid1’s belated birthday dinner.
Happy for you, @CTMom21 . It’s clear you were really thoughtful in finding a great fit. Glad you got your glass slipper!
Thank you, @gardenstategal. At the beginning of the school year we honestly had no idea what to do about high achool, so this was a great outcome. I was crying in my office watching the acceptance video.
I screamed and went to breakfast with my dad; tonight I’m going to Starbucks with a friend, then when I get home I’m gonna eat corn dogs and watch Star Trek. Might window shop for my dorm some.
My daughter’s acceptance email went out yesterday while she was in school, but I had already told her teacher I’d let her know when I heard and she could share the news with my daughter. She attends a very small, arts-based school so the entire school is like a family. The email came through at noon so I texted her immediately. I had two hours to spare before I had to pick her up, so I bought some cupcakes, made a banner with a paper grocery bag and markers, and then grabbed some foil balloons in her new school’s colors on the way. As I was waiting in the pickup line, I opened the sunroof and held the balloons so all of her friends and teachers could see them. She was predictably (and good-naturedly) embarrassed, so, mission accomplished. Her teacher said the entire class watched the acceptance video and that my daughter was crying with happiness.
So, no swag came with the acceptance letters. A little sad about that. I might window shop for swag. Gotta plan my embarrassing mom outfit for game watching!
Congratulations, @dogsmama1997! You’ll have plenty of opportunity to shop at the school store on revisit days — enjoy!
Fwiw, @dogsmama1997 , DS has piles of swag from colleges he chose not to attend. Once the decision was made, it was all effectively retired by him.
I took the t-shirts. One day, I wore one to the supermarket, where I found myself trying to explain my relationship to that school to a stranger who was an alum. Awkward.
I agree with @CTMom21 – buying (and borrowing) opportunities will abound at the one you choose. (Probably enough to attend events for the rest of your life!) And you don’t need anything from the ones you don’t attend.
Ha ha — yes, DS wore some of the t-shirts from the schools he declined — for sleeping — for a little while and then they went in the Goodwill bag.
In that spirit, I thank Lafayette College for their very nice pens and the University of Rochester for their note pads. Wearables are long gone.
You will enjoy buying your own chosen swag at the school store. I use my Mercersburg mug every day at work, and it still makes me happy to see it on my desk.
Time to get that Mercersburg china set out and celebrate @busymommyof4 ! Thankfully you can use it for eating and not throwing :)) (I googled that set and it is beautiful, but no longer for sale!)
I also have a Mercersburg mug, and I love using it every day. I hope M10 next year delivers more good news for my current 7th grader. Can I start freaking out now? :-SS
Last M10 Mercersburg sent wall hangings - a nice one - which a lot of the 9th graders have on their dorm walls now. It was nice… different than a tshirt.
I still look at that NMH tee-shirt with some regret… I don’t remember Choate sending anything. Other than bills.
My child was waitlisted. I would be happy to receive a bill from Choate right now. But I do understand where you are coming from.
@hellomaisy Just got the Mercersburg wall hanging in the mail!
Choate sent us one of the most memorable items: a pillow emblazoned with the Choate logo and the words “Dream Big”. I thought it was very clever.
@ABJ8888 - we also received our wall hangings today! I took a picture of the school logo to Kroger and they were able to make a cake for me with the school logo and Congratulations to the kids! I did get to serve it on my school china @dramakid2! Yay!
I want a Choate t-shirt so badly…
ChoatieLT has about a thousand of them in various stages of decline, and I’m wearing one now as I sleep in it and don’t plan on showering until later. If you choose Choate, @CavsFan2003, your t-shirt dream will come true.
Big congrats on your choices, BTW.
