PLease Advise for summer internships cancelled

Can anyone please advise what I can do for the summer for any research/medical/science based programs online since everything I applied to had cancelled due to COVID. I am a junior currently hoping to apply for 2021 in Premed track or /BS/BA/-MD track. Thank you !

Have you taken SAT II in Chemistry, Biology, Math ? If not, prepare for them and take them when offered on-line by college board (?).
Work on your essays and personal statements - why medicine ? why bs/md vs regular MD ? Why a particular bs/md program ?

Everyone will be in the same boat with cancelled summer programs/internships etc.

Thank you , will do that. I am interested in Medicine, I have done shadowing with a couple of doctors, which I enjoyed. I am only thinking about BS/MD programs, no particular program,but as I see on other threads they require a lot of medically related /research related EC, I have not done any research related EC yet ( I was hoping to do this summer before the Covid crisis)

Some bsmd program require SAT II test score ( may be optional this year because of covid19 ). Research is not absolutely necessary but it is nice to have.

@subaby1

Find what you can do to your local community during the time of crisis to volunteer in any safe way, which is helping who are in need. It is not that you have to do only assumed activities like shadowing, hospital volunteering etc.,

Do you have the heart to help people who are in need or want to do some thing to check the box? Once you have the passion and do some thing that will get noticed in some form or other by admission, either now in BS/MD or in regular MD.

@subaby1 - This year will not be the same as previous years. You probably wont be able to participate in competitive research programs available to HS juniors this summer. But, it is possible to innovate and do something different. There are some alternative options -

Like @GoldenRock mentioned there are lots of online volunteering for organizations impacted by COVID-19. Searching in google is sure to result in lots of opportunities. Small businesses are impacted and could use free volunteers to help with various types of jobs. I am encouraging members of my family also to help out this summer.

Also, there are online summer college level courses that you could take.

Like @grtd2010 mentioned, you could prep for SAT I & SAT II tests. You could even get ahead with your essay writing. Some common essays are -
Why medicine - why do you want to be a Doctor?
Why do you want to join a particular college or specifically a BSMD programs?

Be on lookout - Colleges start publishing essay prompts during the summer itself…

If you were accepted to any of the opportunities you had applied to for summer but later got cancelled, be sure to mention that either under the activities or essays or anywhere else appropriate on the applications.
Shows them your drive and enthusiasm.
