GPA-- unweighted 93.7 not sure what that is on the 4.0 scale... 3.8? 3.7?

SAT: 1940 (This is what I'm really worried about!)

SAT Subject test: I got a 660 on the literature :

Extracurriculars: President of school choir (VP during Junior year)
Member of schools language club
Very active member in school drama club
National Honors Society

APs/Honors: I've taken two APs (AP World and AP US) my school doesn't offer many APs other than science. I've also taken honors english my sophomore and junior year and as a senior I'm taking a SUPA class and an honors english and history courses.

I took French every year of high school and continued with math and science every year.

Regents scores are all good.

Recommendations should be really awesome but I think that's normal.

It’s a total crapshoot, and getting “chanced” isn’t going to change anything. Work hard this year, take a lot of time with your essays, since a lot of colleges (especially NU) want to see more than just your scores, and don’t stress about it.

Thanks! That’s what I’ve heard. Still, if someone said I had no chance at all based on my scores I’d want to know. But Northwestern is an amazing school and I’ll do my best.

If NU is absolutely, positively your top choice, applying early can’t hurt. Otherwise, as you note, your SATs are a bit low, so, probably a long shot.

I got into Medill with a 1900 SAT. If you write a good essay, present yourself and your interest in journalism well, and keep your courses rigorous, I would say it is a definite possibility.

To be honest, with a CR670 and M570, the odds are really against you.
That doesn’t mean you don 't apply to your dream school. It just means you need to be realistic and have a solid Plan B.
