Sailing Instructor over the summer at a fairly large sailing camp in Wisconson

-In flying scot midwesterns I got 10th out of 45 boats overall and 1st in the junior division
-Won countless series races during a summer racing league
Taught myself to windsurf and started a business teaching windsurfing with the ultimate goal of popularizing windsurfing so that I could expand the business to renting and selling windsurfers when I am in college
Wrote a ‘how to sail’ blog and ‘how to windsurf’ blog complete with videos
-made some money off that</p>

<p>I think you have a very good chance at Georgetown, but the ivies will be a bit of a reach. Dartmouth does really care about GPA and with your high class rank you’re good on that aspect. Have you taken the SAT IIs? A lot of the ivies and Georgetown requires 2 or 3 even if you’re submitting your ACTs.</p>

<p>Be aware that the Ivies, or at least some of the Ivies, recruit sailors. I don’t know if your accomplishments are sufficient–IIRC the kid I know who was recruited by H was nationally ranked 1 or 2 in her competition class–but it would be something to look into.</p>

<p>And yes, you need 2 good SATII scores. I’m not sure if Gtown still requires 3. Your ACT is certainly not disastrous but could be higher for D…perhaps you will do better on the SAT. Lots of 5s on APs is good and validates your preparation.</p>
