Please chance me - Colby, Colgate, Haverford, Middlebury, Grinnell

Hey everyone.
Can you please chance me?
GPA 4.0/4.0. Have taken a really tough Alevels curriculum with subjects ranging from Math and Physics to Economics and Journalism. I have about 9 Courses in current year and have still maintained exceptional grades in my first trimester sessionals (4.0).
My ACT is a 32. (28 E, 35 M, 31R, 32S). My Maths 2 subject score is 740 and Physics is 720. Other than that I have a really strong academic profile for last 4 consecutive school years.
My commonapp essay is a pretty personal essay which according to many is a strong displayer of who I am and how i have strongly faced risen over a discrimination that i faced.
My Letter of Recs, eventhough i havent seen them, were hopefully very strong. One even came from UC Bekrley PHD who saw me as an influential leader in class at Stanford.
As far as my Extra curriculars are concerned, I have attended a Stanford Pre Collegiate summer program where i did great and got a letter of REC from My professor too. I was the Headboy (President) of my school and was also the Vice President (Deputy Headboy) of my school for consecutive years. I have 600+ hours of Community service. Internship at BBC and Frontier Core Hospital. I tutor students for free as well. I am Regional level swimmer and have been winning swimming competitions. I have founded two socieities as well which have been succesful in making an impact on lives of many people. I am a debater too. I have been chairing and Judging MUNs and Parliamentary debating competitions after ofcourse winning a dozen.
I also got to Visit states for GYLC a Conferrence as an ambassador of Pakistan.
My Honors include me winning International Kangaroo maths competition in my region and also coming first in Spelling bee competitons. National gold medals for Olevels and Alevels grades are also there. I was also a high achiever at United states Educational foundation pakistan ceremony, selected among 20 students from a pool of300000.
I am an international asking for a lot of aid though.

Well, I hope your Midd essays have fewer typos and better grammar than the above post…Hard to say. Scores and grades are adequate, I would need to see your essay to chance you properly. If your story is compelling, and your essay well-written, I would chance you above 50%.

Haha i am not that strong with grammer normally but I do get my essays proof read from a lot of people so that will not be a problem.
My essay is pretty well written. Thats forsure.
This seems like a good chance to get in then man.

@Raamael I am sure you have reviewed all of the info on Colby regarding admissions stats and are aware that you are well within and slightly above in some areas of their middle 50%. So you seem good there. Your EC’s and honors/awards/rec’s all seem great as well. With that being said, no one knows except the admission’s committee themselves. Do you fit nicely into their posted profile? Yes. Are you a good fit for what they are looking for this year? Only they know for now. You only need to wait another 6-8 weeks to find out. Good Luck

“I am an international asking for a lot of aid though.”

That’s the kicker right there. If you were a US citizen, I’d say your chances are good especially if you expressed strong interest. As an international, you are competing against a pool of other international students who are all academically outstanding and all looking for a lot of aid.

What country are you applying from? There are many exceptional applicants from China, India, Nepal, etc…If you are applying from a less common country, that may help. If you are male, you may also get a slight boost since LACs (liberal arts colleges) traditionally get more female than male applicants (because they don’t offer engineering or business majors, which skew male).

Yes I know. If aid had not been a problem, I would have gone only for really big schools.
I am from Pakistan and not many people have made it to Grinnell from here. So that obviously is a strong point.
Yes I am a male too.
Haha, lets hope it works out for me man. Got deferred from Dartmouth ED with a 29 act then

Thank you So much for responding @N’s Mom

Statistics wise, you should be okay but you are competing with all the top internationals who are also applying to Colgate. It will depend on how much aid those internationals who are stronger than you are asking. If Colgate still has funds for you after covering for those stronger than you, then you should be good. If they don’t have funds for you anymore, then you won’t be accepted.

Since you were deferred at Dartmouth, did you send them an update with your new ACT score? According to the Common Data Set, Section C for Dartmouth (google it), that 29 would have put you in the bottom quartile of students accepted - too risky for an international student who will have to adjust culturally. I’m surprised you were even deferred. A 32 puts you closer to the middle of the pack so it’s worth bringing to their attention.

Not to dissuade you from applying to and, if accepted, attending Grinnell. It’s a terrific school - but quite different from Dartmouth. And being a guy who is applying from Pakistan is certainly better than applying from China or India.

You’re joking, right? You’re qualified for any top school. The only thing that might hurt you is being an international student that needs financial aid.

Haha @megan12 that is the problem. Aid. Aid. Aid. Otherwise i wouldnt have been too worried but I do have hopes from Haverford since they loved me during the interview

Yes. I was also deferred from MIT and UChicago, which indeed are schools with lower percentile scores of 32. This, in my eyes is a perfect displayer of my profile amd essays being on the stronger level.
I love liberal arts colleges. Ofcourse it is a distant dream to study in an ivy league but ofcourse i ll be a lot better at a liberal arts college. Did Ed2 TO Middlebury.
Yes i have sent them all an update

@N’s Mom

I may be wrong, but I don’t think they give a lot of aid to international students. Check older posts because I know this has been discussed before. Either way, good luck!!

You know that MIT and U Chicago aren’t Ivy League, right? Lots of the top colleges in the US aren’t Ivy League. There are another dozen schools that are at least a prestigious - assuming prestige is what you are focused on here.

Yups. I have an idea about that. I just applied to Harvard and Cornell in Rd in ivies
