Please Chance me! Thanks

Hi I’m currently going into my junior year of high school, I live in LA and go to a pretty competitive high school
My freshmen year GPA was a low 2.8
Sophomore first Semester : 2.9
Sophomore Second semester: 3.7 (really stepped it up)
my cumulative going into junior year is like a 3.1 and I hope to grind my butt off this year and try to bring it to like a 3.5
I can realistically get a 28-30 on the ACT
EC’s : I do a lot of community service, played football first two years of high school, student pride leader, president of Korean American Student Association, community service club leader, and some other small stuff
Does Skidmore care much bout freshmen year grades?thanks, any tips or recommendations would be awesome

  1. Your ACT score will be important, especially if your GPA is below average.. Take some ACT study classes. They work. 2-3 extra points make a big difference.
  2. You may be able to get away with a slightly lower than average GPA, as long as you have shown a steady improvement over the 4 years of high school. Looks like you're heading in the right direction.
  3. Lots of AP classes will help. Rigor is good. A 3.4 gpa with lots of AP classes, looks better than a 3.7 without.
  4. Be sure to visit, and while you are there try to schedule an interview with a Professor from within your expected field of study. Colleges like students that show interest. Skidmore does too.
  5. If it feels right for you, STRONGLY consider applying during the ED application period. ED applicants are accepted at a 49% rate, while RD applicant acceptance is around 23%.
  6. Skidmore is need aware, so not needing financial aid doesn't hurt.
