Please Chance me to the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism!

I am applying to the Walter Cronkite school of journalism at Arizona State University. They have higher admission requirements where applicants cannot have English compentency deficiencies, at least a 3.00 gpa and they have to meet one of the following: 1040 SAT or 22 ACT. Since I am a non-resident, I need a 1110 SAT or 24 ACT. I’m so concerned about my SAT and ACT scores. I have a 3.5 gpa, I have all 4 years of English (IB HL Lang and Lit for 2 years, all B grades, one A grade in my literature honers class but the rest B’s, No C, D or F in any of my literature class) and I have taken 3 sessions of Summer School at a skills school. However, my SAT is a 910 composite for verbal and math, my ACT is a 19. Will Cronkite School admit me, ask me for additional materials or will I be admitted to my second major?

What is your second major?
They might ask you for additional materials since you lack behind on scores.
I’ll tell you what, email them.
Be honest with them. Tell them that you have a great application. Talk about you and everything and towards the end, mention about your SAT/ACT scores. Ask them whether people with those scores have chances of acceptance or not. And what you can do to make up for it. I have been in your situation. They helped me when I mailed them. It’s good to be honest with them. It also shows that you are very interested in the college and are trying to help yourself get in by requesting more information. Don’t be shy.

But if you’re gonna ask for aid with those scores, then don’t be surprised if you are rejected.

Ok, but do I e-mail the Journalism school directly?

@thepgong Yes. :slight_smile:
You can also CC the admissions email just in case.

@Komz1304 Thank you very much! I emailed both the admissions and the school. Are you a student at ASU?

Your total SAT score was 910 (CR and math)? What was your CR score alone? Are you sure journalism is the right field for you? What type of journalism are you interested in?

Nope, I’m not :slight_smile: But it was one of the universities that I had shortlisted.

@Komz1304 That’s exactly right. It was the composite of my math plus verbal on the SAT. Journalism was my passion. In fact, I am currently doing school newspaper at my high school.

@Komz1304 The type of Journalism I wanted to do is Broadcast Journalism and a reporter.
