I think you have a very good chance. Are you taking a lot of honors classes too in addition to the AP classes? You have very good ec’s!

Thank you : )
our school doesn’t offer AP in science department, so I take the advanced physics this year and linear algebra and multivariable cal in my junior year. They both are honor course.
12.16 result is coming out, freaking out

You will be fine. You GPA is low but your sat and ec are good enough. I’m in the same position as you. My gpa is a 3.882/4.0 but my act is only a 24. Hopefully we both get in! Good luck!

You will both be fine. Good Luck!!

Thank you. Both of my brothers go there so I really want to go there too. It’s been my dream school.

Thank you guys. My girlfriend is there. I want to get into the school and live with her

You guys don’t have to worry, I DO. I have UW GPA at 3.45/4 and 26 ACT

What’s your weighted GPA?

I wish the best for both of you.

I understand the U of I only cares about unweighted GPA. I would be careful thinking a certain weighted GPA means you’re in.

For my particular high school, the avg. accepted student is a 31 ACT and a 3.68 unweighted GPA for U of I. Anything below 3.5 unweighted GPA and 27 ACT is typically not accepted at U of I from my High School.

You shouldn’t panic. As I understand it, it can vary by High School.

How come when you apply they tell you to put your weighted GPA then?

They give you the option to put weighted or unweighted.

And also your school seems way more competitive than mine. I know kids who got into u of I with a 21,22,23 on the ACT at my school.

My counselor told me admission is highly dependent on which area you are applying to. Business and Engineering, for example, are much harder and more competitive to get accepted into compared to Liberal Arts & Sciences.

My school uses the Naviance tool, which allows you to look at your stats compared to everyone else from my high school that’s applied to U of I over the last 5 years.

For my school…even though the counselor says that U of I looks at unwieghted GPA, but the posters here want to use weighted GPA…the average accepted student from my high school to U of I - Champaign is ACT 31 Weighted GPA 4.05/5.0. Notice, that’s the average accepted, not the average of those who applied. Although there’s no way to post the scattergram here, it is obvious if you see the graph that the handful (looks like) 10 or more kids are clusters around the 35/36 Act and 4.6 W GPA area, which drives up the average.

Each year, about 100 students (average apply). As you point out, there are several students with stats under the average. In my school’s case, over the last 5 years, 2 kids were accepted with ACT’s in the low 20’s. One had an ACT of 21 with a 3.5 W and 3.4 UW GPA. The other was a 24 ACT with a 3.6 W and 3.5 UW GPA.

I personally know 2 people that applied last year with an ACT of 33 and GPA UW of 3.7 and W GPA of 4.2, one in Engineering and one in Business that were rejected.

I’m not trying to be negative, just reporting the facts. I’m just another applicant, so I’m going to stop posting to these Chance Me discussions, because I only have what I’ve read as a way of developing an opinion, and I assume everyone on this site has access to similar sites, and can read thru older posts to get opinions.

Best wishes to everyone!

You have a good chance. For living with girlfriend… freshmen are required to live in a dorm their freshmen year just fyi.

Please just don’t choose this school cause your gf goes here. If you genuinely love this school, then by all means come here!

Thank you ILmaggie. Can someone please ready my post about my chances to get into UIUC and tell me what you think. please :)
