This is my first post and I've just found this site and it's great, I think I'll be here quite a lot from now on. :)

I want to apply to Princeton and Cornell with financial aid but I don't really know what my chances are as my school doesn't have a counselor and not so many people apply to U.S. universities from my school.

I am from Turkey and go to a private German school in Istanbul.

Female
Rank: Top 10%
SAT: 750CR/800M/750W
SAT II: MatIC -800 MatIIC-750 German-800
GPA: 4.8 (out of a 5.0 scale)

I will take the most difficult courses available senior year. (We must take all the required lessons for Turkish as well as the German curriculum to get both diplomas (Turkish and the German Abitur) so it's pretty hard. My school doesn't offer any AP courses.

Activities: 3 yrs in Chess Club (second place in a tournament), 1 yr in theater and dance club, and I was a member of the discipline comitee for 3 years.

And out of school I play the piano since I was 6.

I am also open to any other suggestions. Thanks..

Yes, my weak ECS worry me a lot, but my school doesn't really offer that many ECS and the ones that are offered (with few exceptions) are usually not very serious. I wish I had taken a few more but I think it's too late now. :(

Do you think I may be able to make up for that with a really good essay? (For example about my intellectual interests for Cornell?)
