Please fill me in on the academic reputation of these (mostly Texas) schools

No harm in applying to Rice! The worst that can happen is a rejection!

If Rice truly is his top choice, go for it ED. You never can predict a thing in this game...

In case its not too late...

I agree with tetrisfan...Rice is AWESOME! Am considering it for myself, RD...

just my two cents, don't know much about the other texas unis...but I do know that Rice seems to give the perfect 'all around' education we dream of...world class degree with fun and games...they even take soccer seriously, so kudos to them...big consideration for us asian kids...:D

I think that University of Tulsa and Trinity University seem like good choices for your son. The good thing about them is that Trinity has an Early Action program and University of Tulsa is rolling, so he can get a decision fairly early. He could even apply to Rice ED as well as the other two.

Months have passed, and here's the list now:

Austin College

Baylor

Oklahoma City University

Rice

Southwestern

Texas Tech

Trinity

University of Tulsa

St. Edwards

DS took the SAT for the first time in December. With a score of 2010, all of the above seem like possiblities except for Rice.
