Hey,

I mostly have been lurking on here but I figured that I'd post. These are my reach schools (I have safes so don't sugarcoat it). I am looking for realistic answers.

I am a 12th grader in the IB program at a fairly well respected public high school.

2110 SATs (770 in math)
33 ACTs
91.75 unweighted GPA
96.32 weighted GPA
700 Matt L2
Will be taking Math, Physics, and Bio SATs next Week

Major Activities:

National Merit Commended
IB Diploma
National Honor Society and all Subject area Honor Societies (just member)
President of Youth Group Chapter
In major youth orchestra in area (principal bassoon, played in carnegie hall)
Volunteering in nearby hospital
Shadowed a cardiologist
Doing minor research since 11th grade

Other:

Studied in Israel for a semester in sophomore year
Participated in a community service teen tour

What do you think my chances are for these schools?

Cornell
UPenn
Johns Hopkins
Tufts
Brandeis
UMiami BS/MD Med Program
UConn BS/MD Med Program

By the way, I'd like to say that this is a fantastic community of people and has been a great resource in this process. So thank you for that.

You’ve chosen a strong list for your stats. I’m not too sure about the BS/MD Med Programs, but if you demonstrate your passion for medicine in your essays, you will have a strong chance at all. Cornell and Upenn are reaches, JHU a match, Tufts a low match and I think you’re in to Brandeis. I would just submit your ACT score, too, it’s much better.
Good luck!

I sent the SATs because I want the college to see the 770. Also, I wrote my main college essay about my experience studying in Israel, but will write most supplements about my passion for medicine. Also, what do you think my chances are at Vanderbilt? I forgot to mention it in my first post. And yes it’s a strong list but I have some matches/safes (Binghamton, Stony Brook, Muhlenberg, Boston U)

You also have a good chance at Vanderbilt. And I didn’t mean strong in a bad way – I meant that you chose schools that are good for your scores. I don’t like when every single person puts HYPSM on their list just for ****s and giggles.
So, good job! Haha

The regular BU program is clearly a match, but the BU 7-year medical program is much more competitive. You need to apply early and complete an interview too well before the normal application deadline.

Yeah I meant Boston regular decision, because I was saying that I only named my reaches and have matches/safes. The only combined programs I am applying to are UMiami and UConn (Already sent in Miami). What do you think about the other schools? I thought that Brandeis might be a high match while the others are reaches (UPenn and the combined programs being the highest reaches).
