I'm a highschool student beginning to do some in-depth college searching. I am interested in engineering and would love some insight into the following areas at the colleges of MSOE (Milwaukee School of Eng.), Marquette, and Kettering...

-- Scholarship $$/u
-- Food/u
-- Christian groups/u)
-- General sentiments you might have about attending these schools

THANK YOU so much for any info regarding some/all of these areas!

For cost, see if they have a “net price calculator” on their web sites.

Will you be applying to your in-state public schools? Some of the midwest public schools have a good reputation for engineering.

You can check the accreditation lists at [ABET -](http://www.abet.org) for list of engineering degree programs offered at each school.

I live in Illinois, which pretty much only leaves U of IL as far as engineering goes… I know they have a good engineering program, but the state of IL has frankly gone down the toilet in the public education realm so they don’t even begin handing out merit-based scholarships until the 35 ACT scores (I’m a couple points behind) so I’ve largely shifted my search to private and OOS. Thanks, though!

There are other state universities in Illinois that have ABET accredited engineering degree programs. Not sure if they will come out any cheaper – you can try their “net price calculators”.

For less expensive out of state public universities, consider Minnesota (Twin Cities), Virginia Tech, Cal Poly SLO, Stony Brook, and Iowa State. Consider also the big GPA and test score based merit scholarships at Alabama and UAB.
