Please help a hopeless Asian girl. Is it worth shooting for an Ivy or T20?

If finance is the goal, consider a top LAC like Amherst or Williams ED. The alumni network is outstanding for consulting and finance, and the small class sizes mean lots of discussion and excellent relationships with professors. My NSLI-Y alumni daughter will attend Amherst next year and another in her cohort will be attending Williams.

As I implied, I hope your parents understand the value (and prestige) of the aforementioned Amherst and Williams.

@ellielikescake You can tell your parents that these (as well as a number of other Liberal Arts Colleges in the Northeast) are considered “the Little Ivies”. They are at least at the level of the Ivies regarding quality of education and prestige, but, unlike the Ivies, these colleges remained primarily undergraduate institutions. Have your parents look at the list of alumni from each of these colleges.

Why not political science as a major? I think you have a great chance of bagging at least a T10. Frankly, outside of HYPMS, you will get a look everywhere. My bets are Northwestern, UChicago and Brown. Your quirky writing and wonderful personality will shine through.

In general rankings (such as the one below, which includes universities and liberal arts colleges), Ivies and top liberal arts colleges place closely to each other.
