Hello,

When I applied for colleges via the Common Application last winter, I accidentally mistyped the last digit for every application. I didn't think it was too big a deal since the Common App said that the SSNs were "optional" and used only for "financial aid." But now that my mother has found out about it, she is convinced that that error played a huge factor in my overwhelming rejection results. Although I am not trying to blame that factor on my bad results, I am now feeling a bit uneasy: the colleges could have used SSN to match up SAT, Secondary School Reports, Teacher Recommendations, etc... I had the same SSN on everything except for my Common App. This mistake is costing me big time for my Emory Financial Aid because they cannot figure out who I am and there's only 10 days until I have to make my decision between Emory and another school.

Please help. Any thoughts?
