Hey guys I appreciate a lot of the help you are putting out there for people uncertain about engineering and the colleges where they could study it. I was recently accepted into RPI, Carnegie Mellon, UIUC, Cornell, and Johns Hopkins. I want to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science and would like to research either nanotechnology or high temperature superconductors. Any information you could send my way would help me a lot, thanks.

I guess it really depends on what you want in a college. All of them are prestigious schools with top engineering programs. I would think the differences in the quality of education will be very small (but then again, im just a high school kid like you, so what do i really know). I was looking at most of those schools as well, before i decided to go with jhu early decision. I liked the campus and, like you, i was looking for research oppurtunities, which jhu prides itself on. Cornell was too cold, and too much in the middle of nowhere for my taste, though it was very beautiful. CMU was ok, but i didnt like pittsburg as much as baltimore. I was also drawn towards the smaller private schools, more than a large public like UIUC. Nice job getting on all those places though.

Cornell along with northwestern are supposed to be the tiop 2 unis for nanotechnology

thanks, one more bumppp
